Mika Kanno, 48 years old, is a working mother of 3 children; 18, 20, and 22 years old. Since her childrens are grown up, she has now more time for herself.

It was 4 years ago that Mika visited the hair salon, toto::, introduced by her daugher’s friend’s mother, which in Japan we call “mama-tomo.”

 

 

“Before I found toto:: I did not have any regular hair salon that I liked.  Toto:: was the first hair salon I really appreciated where hair stylists were seriously listen to me and tried to find the solution to my concerns. Finding a trustful hair salon is not easy, it does not matter how popular or famous, it is important to find a place where I could feel comfortable.”

 

Mika goes to toto:: at least once a month and her request is always “omakase” meaning “I leave it to you.”  Basically the decision is in hair stylist’s hands.

 

“Actually I cannot stick to one style and want to change my hairstyle often. Good thing about Mr. Fujimoto, my hairstylist, is he can find out my feelings and ask me if I want to change the style.”

Mika said.

 

 

Mr. Fujimoto’s suggestion for my new style was a style called “beautiful mother.”

“Mika stays close to her children. Currently she is going to visit universities with her daughter who are getting ready for university exams, so I wanted to make a stylish style that her daugher will be proud of when walking with her mother.”

 

 

The base of the style is medium length layer style. By cutting the outline 30 degree higher, it gives a soft round shape. Then use layers on the outline with a 2 cm width left to make an elegant movement for the style.

He also used layer 4 cm besides parting in her hair to cover the part and boost volume on top.

By using sliding cut, he created three-dimensional shape and a glossy look texture.

 

For colouring, he used products from Milbon’s ordeve beaute, mixed grey cover dye and normal colour dye to make 9 level for the all hair. For hair around her face and top side of her head, we applied 11 level beige colour highlight fully.

 

“Since Mika comes to our salon on regular basis, I can propose her to have bright colours. The colours gives different impressions. I highlighted with small parts each time, tpoprevent grey hair to stand out. By mixing grey cover hair dye and standard hair dye, it can create attractive colour with a sense of cleaness.”  Mr. Fujimoto explained.

 

 

Mika has natural waves which she permed 2 month ago – curled inward and outward alternately

to the end of hair with a 45 degree angle to create random movement.

 

 

“Mika’s bang has naturally curled and has a habit to comb up her hair with left hand. So with her beautiful face, she looks elegant but also gives a snob impression. Therefore, I was focused on creating a style which gives the right balance and soft impression.” Mr. Fujimoto explained.

 

“I am always satisfied with Mr. Fujimoto’s work. He creates a style based on his understanding of my hair type, my personality, and seasons.”  Mika said with smile.
