Hair care lesson by Hama-chan (vol.4) Hair rinse or hair treatment?

    July 19, 2013

    Hama-chan:

Today we will continue our discussion about “in-the-bathroom” treatments.

    Yumi:

By the way, what is the difference between rinse, conditioner, and treatment?

    Hama-chan:

The products which makes bubbles such as shampoo are usually alkaline.  When hair becomes alkaline, it creaks. To avoid this rinse was created. Conditioner is rinse plus the function of preventing static electricity and making it smooth. Treatment is conditioner plus nutrition to repair damaged hair.  Condensed treatment is also called mask.

    Yumi:

So, the density increases from rinse, conditioner, treatment, mask. Why there are so many kinds?

    Hama-chan:

Long time ago, there were not many people who did coloring or perm, so rinse was enough. However, when people started having colored or permed hair, different type of products appeared to meet people’s needs.

    Yumi:

How can we choose right product?

    Hama-chan:

    Please see this chart.

    Yumi:

Do we need to do treatment every day?

    Hama-chan:

    One shampoo, one treatment.

We need to use treatment as same as shampoo.

    Yumi:

I thought shampoo and rinse every time, then use treatment twice a week.

    Hama-chan:

    I disagree with the idea.

Importantly we need to give the nutrition which is taken away by having shampoo. So if you do a shampoo, you have to do treatment after.

    Yumi:

It means that shampoo itself impose a lot of burden on hair.

    Hama-chan:

That’s right. Nutrition taken away by shampoo is a lot if you think about it for a 2 months period. Therefore, we need to use treatment to prevent hair from being damaged.

Moreover, I can show you a formula on the next chart.

    Hama-chan:

For “in-the-bath” treatment, we should work on 2. for prevention. After let’s look at 3.

    Yumi:

What do we need to do?

    Hama-chan:

First of all, we have to decrease the risk of A in the chart.  People tend to choose strong shampoo.

We need to choose mild shampoo.

    Yumi:

How can we choose mild shampoo?

    Hama-chan:

OK. We will discuss that next time.

Anyway, the easiest way is to double B (nutrition given by treatment), meaning doing treatment twice after shampoo.

    Yumi:

I have never heard about doing treatments twice!

    Hama-chan:

    I really recommend this solution.

Please try when your hair is damaged, or after hot spring, swimming in pool or ocean, or coming back from traveling abroad.
